How do I share fuel?

Once you’ve set up your Sharetank and your fuel is sitting, waiting to be used, you’re ready to invite up to 5 others to be members of your Sharetank.

Your chosen 5 can be anywhere in Aotearoa and can use your fuel balance anytime – remember, your litres never expire. Make sure they have the latest version of the Z App installed and away you go!

Keep in mind, once someone is a member of your Sharetank, they have access the full balance of litres – choose wisely!

Things to remember:

  • You can have up to 5 active members at a time.
  • There’s a limit of up to 8 members over any rolling 12-month period. Note: if a member leaves your Sharetank and you add them again, this counts as 2 members.
  • You can only be a member of one Sharetank account at a time. If you choose to set up your own Sharetank, you will no longer be able to participate in someone else's tank.

If I’m the account owner

Step 1: Invite

Anyone you invite to your group will need to enter a code in their Z App before they can access your Sharetank. The Sharetank code you see under your name (e.g. A35PD8) is your personal code to give others. By sharing this code, you are inviting recipients to access your fuel balance.

To share your code:

  1. Start by opening Z App.
  2. Tap on Sharetank in the bottom menu.
  3. Click on + at top centre of dashboard screen - click Add - share my code
  4. Tap on the first option in the menu called ‘Sharetank members’.
  5. Simply tap the 'Add+' sign in one of the rows below.
  6. Choose any of your favourite messaging or email applications.
  7. Alternatively, you can also just tell your partner or friend the code verbally and have them enter the code in their Z App.

Step 2: Confirm

Once you have shared your Sharetank invite code with a member and they entered into their Z App, you'll see a notification that someone has requested to join.

  1. Tap on Sharetank in the bottom menu
  2. Tap the first option in the menu called ‘Sharetank members’
  3. From here you can confirm new members to your Sharetank or see who has access to your Sharetank

Step 3: Remove

As the Sharetank owner, you can manage or remove users anytime in the 'Sharetank members' section within Sharetank.

To remove a member:

  1. Open Z App
  2. Tap on Sharetank in the bottom menu
  3. Tap on the first option in the menu called ‘Sharetank members’.
  4. From here you can review who has access to your Sharetank. If you want to remove someone, tap “Remove” on the right.

 

If I’m invited

Step 1: Join

I don’t have Z App

  1. Download Z App from the App Store or Google Play
  2. Open Z App
  3. Follow the sign-up prompts
  4. As part of Z App onboarding process, you’ll be asked to provide a Sharetank invite code and accept the privacy policy and terms and conditions.

I already have Z App

  1. Open Z App
  2. Tap on Sharetank in the bottom menu
  3. Tap on “Join a Sharetank”
  4. You’ll be asked to provide a Sharetank invite code and accept the privacy policy and terms and conditions.

I already have a Sharetank

You can only actively participate in one Sharetank at a time but you are able to leave and join another Sharetank if invited without deleting your current Sharetank.

  1. Open Z App
  2. Tap on Sharetank in the bottom menu
  3. Tap on the three dots (***) in the top-right corner
  4. Tap on the option in the menu called ‘Join another Sharetank’
  5. You’ll be asked to provide a Sharetank invite code.

Step 2: Confirm

Once you submit the code, a request will be sent to the owner of the Sharetank notifying them that you’re trying to access it. You will only gain access to their Sharetank once they accept your join request.

Leave

You can leave someone’s Sharetank anytime. Here’s how

  1. Open Z App
  2. Tap on Sharetank in the bottom menu
  3. Tap on the three dots (***) in the top-right corner
  4. Tap on the option in the menu called ‘Leave Sharetank’

Note: By leaving someone else’s Sharetank, you’re losing access to their fuel balance. To re-gain access, you will need to re-enter the access code, and they will need to accept you again.

Some things to remember being a part of someone else’s Sharetank

  • You will have access to all of the owner’s fuel balance.
  • You will not be able to top up.
  • The owner can you remove you at any time
  • The owner will be able to see transaction details when you have redeemed Sharetank litres from their balance
  • If you leave the owner’s Sharetank, you will no longer have access to their fuel balance and have to request to join again. Litres are unable to be transferred across different Sharetanks.
